A brief background…
(Scroll to the bottom to see my certifications)
I specialize in providing Corrective Exercise programs and post-physical therapy/post-rehab, to address muscle imbalances that may have arisen and create a foundation to prevent future (re)injury.
I was a lead trainer and the Head of Trainer Relationships for Wello, an online training platform that was acquired by Weight Watchers in 2014. I am also a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, yoga instructor, a Pilates teacher, a blackbelt in Taekwondo, a former dance instructor, and trained with my college boxing club.
I’m also an enthusiastic hiker/trekker and indoor climber/boulderer, and I was a Local Ambassador for the Ladies Climbing Coalition in Manhattan. I am also a classically-trained amateur pianist.
What to expect when you train with me…
I personalize every workout to your goals, your experience, and your personality. Some of my clients like really dynamic workouts with a lot of variety. Others like to focus more mindfully on muscle activation and mobility. I’m happy to adapt my style to motivate you while adhering to my emphasis on solid form and alignment. It’s really important that the intent and outcome of each exercise are aligned, so that you can get results while limiting wear & tear.
I train in-person in Manhattan NYC and online. Some clients ask for “homework” in between our sessions. I am happy to offer this and commend your commitment!
My Favorite Client Story Is…
One of my clients was moving and traveling around quite a bit, and he wanted help getting a solid workout regimen that was safe for his shoulder injury. PLUS he wanted to learn how to speak Chinese Mandarin through our workouts! Needless to say, this has been quite the fun and challenging mission for BOTH of us – he has improved significantly in endurance, body mass composition, and his new language skills – all while keeping his shoulder safe.
My Favorite Exercise Is…
The vinyasa series in yoga (some variation of plank, chaturanga, upward-facing dog, downward-facing dog): it is so good for the entire body in terms of building strength, breathing, posture and mobility! I always try to include at least a few of these in each workout. Sometimes, it’s part of the dynamic warm-up of a bootcamp class. And definitely as part of my yoga flows. It helps mobilize the spine, warm up the shoulders and hamstrings, activate the core, and center your focus.
